Story
Discerning what to carry on.
The first thing we did was carefully discern what to keep. Fittings used for generations, pillars with character. These are assets unique to this home that could never be obtained new.
To let the kept materials shine, we finished the walls and floors in honest, understated materials. So the old would not feel out of place, we kept the new deliberately restrained — designing that balance with care.
Time-worn materials will go on aging together with the homeowner. Not made new, but carried on — a home that gives form to that idea.
