Overseas

Japanese design, wherever you live.
We shape the home; your local builder brings it to life.

For clients abroad who wish to bring the quiet depth of Japanese design into their own home, YES archi LAB provides architectural design and interior design only. Construction is carried out by builders in your own country, following our drawings and specifications. Working online across time zones, we translate the sensibility we have cultivated in Tokyo — restraint, natural materials, and light — into a home built where you are.

A living space shaped by Japanese design sensibility

For those who want a Japanese home,
far from Japan.

You admire the calm of a Japanese interior — the warmth of timber, the softness of natural light, the sense of a space that quiets the mind. Yet finding a designer overseas who truly understands that sensibility, not merely its surface, is rarely easy.

We design from Tokyo for residences anywhere in the world. Whether a full home, a single room, or a retreat, we bring the same attention we give to homes in Japan to a project built in your own country.

What We Provide

Design and interior design.
Construction stays local.

To make the process clear from the start: for overseas projects, YES archi LAB is responsible for design only. We do not undertake construction abroad. Your local builder handles the actual work, guided by the drawings and specifications we prepare.

i

Our Role

Design & interior design

We listen to how you wish to live, then prepare the plan, the interior design, and material and finish specifications. The intent behind every choice is documented so it can be understood clearly by a builder in your country.

ii

Your Local Builder

Construction on site

Construction is carried out by a builder you engage locally, familiar with the codes, climate, and materials of your region. Our drawings are prepared to be followed by that team.

iii

Working Together

Online collaboration

We work with you and your builder online — sharing drawings, reviewing progress from photographs, and answering questions as the work proceeds. Distance is bridged by clear documents and steady dialogue.

Because construction is handled locally, the scope of our design support may be adjusted to suit your project and the practices of your region. If you would like us to remain involved through construction as a design reference for your builder, we are glad to discuss how best to do so.

The Japanese Sensibility

Restraint, natural materials,
and light.

Japanese design finds beauty not in abundance but in what is left out. A room pared back to its essence, materials chosen to deepen with age, and light handled with quiet care — these are the qualities we carry into every plan.

Rather than transplanting a single style, we read how you live and where you live, and shape a home that feels at once unmistakably Japanese and entirely your own.

How It Works

A clear path,
from first talk to finished drawings.

We begin with an online consultation to understand your home, your site, and how you wish to live. From there we move into design, sharing plans and material proposals at each stage for your review.

Once the design is settled, we deliver a complete set of drawings and specifications for your local builder. Throughout construction, we remain available online to answer questions about our design intent.

The Process

i.

Online Consultation

A first conversation, free of charge, held online across time zones. We learn about your home, your site, and the way of living you hope for.

ii.

Design Proposal

We prepare plans, interior design, and material proposals, sharing them for your review and refining the design together through online dialogue.

iii.

Drawings & Handover

A complete set of drawings and specifications is delivered to your local builder. We stay reachable online throughout construction for any questions.

Our Work

Homes we have shaped.

Our projects in Japan show the sensibility we would bring to a home abroad — the handling of materials, light, and space. They are a window into how we think, and what a Japanese-designed home can feel like.

You are welcome to explore our completed works as a starting point for your own project.
