SUMIKA is the flagship project series of YES archi LAB. Rather than moving to a new home, you carry the one you already have forward to the next generation. Drawing on the depth of time that has gathered in the space, we prepare the home so it can be inherited across generations. Made one home at a time, lasting one home at a time — this series embodies that philosophy most vividly.
Inherit
Not moving on, but discerning what can be kept and carrying it forward. We pass the time etched into a home on to the next generation.
Material
Plaster walls, solid-wood floors, time-worn fittings. We choose materials that grow more beautiful over time, turning the marks of age into character.
For 100 years
Beyond comfort for today, we design with an eye to the structure and regulations that allow a home to be inherited across generations.
